About Us![]() ABOUT US
Northbrook United Methodist Church is located in Northbrook, Illinois, a popular combined residential and commercial suburb north northwest of Chicago. (www.northbrook.il.us). Our church was organized in 1956, and after a few years of meeting in school gymnasiums, we completed our current facility at Cherry Lane and Western Avenue. We are known as a welcoming church, with many of our members having come from diverse religious backgrounds and from family situations in which no formal religion was practiced. We have had a history of outstanding pastors, several of whom went on to major supervisory positions within the Northern Illinois Conference and beyond. One of our former members designed the Cross and Flame logo which is the primary symbol of the United Methodist Church. We are also known for our missionary activities including major domestic and international youth mission trips and local efforts on behalf of the needs of children and the homeless. We concentrate on educational and fellowship opportunities for children, youth and adults, some of which are described elsewhere on this website. Our central location within Northbrook has allowed us to serve our community through events like seven successful years of the Arts in Northbrook art fair, and acting as the staging area for all of the Northbrook parades. We hope that you will soon join us for worship and fellowship.
